Friends of Grand Haven
We care about our community. We listen. We watch. We share. We Learn. We value information and try to share it as fully, accurately, and widely as possible.
We like matrix style communication. The city says the public does not engage. The public says our city leaders do not listen. A disconnect. How to fix it? Let communication move in a matrix. Let everybody hear what everybody else says. The city uses a linear communication model instead of a matrix. It asks the public for input but never lets the public see or hear what others say or hear. The city should include the public in the discussion; not just gather information and control it all at city hall. The public wants to hear what their neighbors have to say instead of everybody giving only one direction If the city wants information, it also has to give it.
Here we try to address that disconnect. We use a matrix model. Everybody sees and hears what everybody else says and hears. It even lets you talk with each other. Imagine that! Hopefully, the public will be heard better. And city hall will see the public more engaged. If you shut down open exchange, you shut down communication. If you open the exchange, you open the communication. Everybody wins.
We are a pipeline to the community that is available to public officials, candidates, and issue advocates who want to talk with you one-on-one, face-to-face. We are an audience that cares about our community and those who live here alongside us. We don’t solicit comments. We don’t vet information. We don’t varnish it. We don’t repackage messages. We don’t try to tip the scale one way or the other. We suggest you also take time to visit websites and read newspaper and other articles and editorials from all vantage points on candidates and important issues. We encourage you to weigh the facts and views for yourself so on election day you feel confident in the choices you make at the voting booth.
