I have two suggestions for planning commission to consider, please, regarding the Downtown Residence Inn.

  1. Underground Parking.  Can we have underground parking for 35-40 spaces?  It would solve the parking dilemma.  Footings and pilings for a 60 ft tall hotel go down 15-20 ft anyway for the foundation.  If we’re digging that deep, just dig out the center, too, and put in parking.
  • West Side lot line Wing instead of East Side.   Can we run the N-S wing along the north lot line boundary instead of the east lot line?  It would open more and better sight lines.  It would feel less overwhelming to the block.  It would prevent a “dead end blind alley” for police, EMS, and fire officers and vehicles.  The wing along the east lot line hems them in and makes them vulnerable.

Thank you.  Brent Clark
